This blog is for Alex Fields from the College of Athens, but read it if you’d like!

We are each made so beautifully and so perfectly by the Lord of Lords and it is unreal to be able to see these gifts we have as we walk alongside each other toward Jesus. In being here in Nicaragua, I am so inspired by the people and how they live their lives. During our house visits, going and praying at the hospital, dump ministry, etc., I can see the Lord and His spirit in people so vividly. There are some of the most hospitable people on this planet that I’ve ever met here who have been teaching me all about how to love others better, be more selfless, and focus on the gain of others before myself. This is amazing because I have learned how to step into that since I am going to be here in Nicaragua for so long, and I have much more time to practice. An example is one of the guides here. I’ve been practicing my Spanish with them a lot and they have been encouraging me and pushing me to be more confident in the skills that I have. And because they have been encouraging me, they made me a bracelet as a gift just because they wanted to! Um… let’s just say that it’s not often your friend back home encourages you in your skills and then gives you gifts as well just because they want to, way less a stranger I’ve known for a week! So these amazing qualities and big hearts have been encouraging me to take the view off of myself and pour out my heart onto others and what they need. I believe that the hearts here are so big because of the spirit and the big faith in God they have. I have met so many strong women and men of faith that I am so inspired by and want to become more like, and I pray that I can. I know that we each have different plans for us but watching the people of Nicaragua be Jesus to me already has been such an encouragement to continue to step out in confidence for what the Lord has for my life, and it’s all because of the diversity we have in being who God created us to be.
