Hello! This blog is for Alex Fields to read for schooling, but feel free to read along if you care to.

Now that training camp is over and we are getting ready to leave the country in a week, we’ve been able to do some more adventures around Georgia to shop, serve, and evangelize. It’s been great to be able to see some civilization because, with the training camp intensity and activities, we are stuck on the Adventures with Missions campus. But now that training camp is over we got to go to some stores, served at a YoungLife camp for a week, and then today we got to go out for a fun day and go to a restaurant and ice cream shop. And throughout those little adventures, we got to meet some cool people/strangers out and about! One thing I’ve learned from these adventures is how the Holy Spirit talks to us as we communicate with others as to what He wants us to say to them (regarding Evangelism). We were walking to Walmart today from our lunch spot, and I felt a tug on my heart to walk over and chat with a homeless lady on the side of the road and ask what she needed at the store. And while nothing was perfect and we couldn’t provide her with a home, we did get to get her some new clothes and pray over her and the losses and things in her life that she needed. I believe that the Holy Spirit put it on my heart to give her the attention and love that she deserves as a daughter of Jesus especially when the world isn’t giving her love. I think one of the ways the Holy Spirit uses us is in love with those who need to be loved, and I think I got to do this today with our new friend Angela. Especially because she was already a believer in Christ, we got to encourage her in her faith today which was maybe just what she needed to feel. However, I also think that the Holy Spirit directs us to those who need to hear the gospel and guides our hearts to speak with those who need the good news! He is so big and grand that we never know what the little tug in our heart means, but when we obey it there will be much fruit because God is in everything and knows what we need more than we do. It’s awesome to be a part of the Holy Spirit’s nudges to those around us, and it’s an honor to learn more about Him every single day.

Also, I felt like from my interaction with the homeless woman I got to learn more about communicating with people where they are at. And while we are still in the United States, it’s awesome to get practice now in talking with people in their homes/comforts/places (regarding intercultural communications).  Since I’m from California and not super used to the lifestyle in Georgia, there are a lot of things I feel are a little different here that I am learning and using that knowledge to meet people where they are at and address them from their point of view. And while we are still in the US, I still am learning about how to meet people in their circumstances which has been super awesome. It’s been a blessing to communicate with people in their ways here in GA. Also, there are lots of Spanish speakers here in Georgia, like in the ice cream shop and Uber we had today, and I loved being able to speak with them in Spanish and get to communicate to them where they are from and in a comfortable way for them. This is just me trying to relate and love people, and it is so fun to be able to get to know more about people and the way they do things. It’s made my heart bigger than it was before the race, which is such a good feeling! From now until the day I die, I will get to sit in rest of how big God is and how He is working, and as a lowly little human, I get to be a small vessel that God is choosing to use to advance His kingdom… it’s awesome.
